Looking at the world go by

Just a quick photo taken this morning with my iPhone whilst on the train. I love the lighting round his face and the lens flare.

Walk to Mum's

I walk down his crocked, cobbled little road on the walk to my Mum's. It has to be one of my favourite places in Knutsford...

Knutsford at night

Knutsford on my walk to my salsa class...not the best photo (taken with my iPhone) but I love the contrast with the coal black sky and the pools of light. It is also lovely to see a view I see daily in another light.

Happy Birthday Mum x

Today is my Mum's birthday and we sheltered from the horrid January weather, ate baked potatoes with butter and salt and sang round the tiniest birthday cake ever. In a family where Mum and I love baking and my brother in law is a master baker and runs a bakery you'd think a better cake could have been found but that's what we get for leaving the cake decisions to my little sister...

I tried some experiments today with the photos and I love the motion blurring on most of the photos of my baby nephew, as well as the blurred picture of his older brother who, at 12, never wants to be on film anymore so can only be captured either holding something in front of his face (Nanna's flowers) or turning away. The latter was my sister's favourite photo of the day. I love the one of Toby blowing out Nanna's candle with Freddie looking on but my favorite is the last one...the slightly sepiaed black and white and the light are gorgeous and the look on Mum's face as she feeds her youngest Grandson her slice of cake is priceless ;).

Organising with a stationery, floral paper and stripey ribbon addiction

After my post yesterday mentioning the my reorganisation of our little nest I have been asked how I have organised everything...so here is the first view.

These are my personal files. My filofax contains my diary and address book. A folder covered in pretty floral paper contains our calendar, has compartments for household routines, finances, school details, health records and any takeaway menus and hides an envelope in the back for warranties and household appliance leaflets. Lastly a large accordion file covered in the same paper and fastened with the thickest pink ribbon I have contains all our older documents, inherited family photographs, letters and papers, College and University notes, folders of ephemera from important trips and holidays and so on.

I have 3 folders for British Cream Tea as well as others including one for old cards (I can't bring myself to throw them away!). I will try and photograph these over the next few days.

Springtime in January

After the fairy light, snow flocked, vintage glass muddle of Christmas and the lull that was New Year I have felt the need to brush away the cobwebs along with winter, reorganise and reorder our little nest and welcome in the coming spring.

A botanically papered chimney breast, floral accordion files, paperwhite bulbs in mismatched china, candy coloured pompoms, the 'mahoossive' branch Toby carried home that we hung painted wooden birds from, our felty fireplace, springtime cushions, stripey folders, salsa classes and daffodils are making my heart sing this week.
