Homemade egg boxes for the adults on Easter Sunday

I bought 3 different coloured cardboard boxes of eggs this week to use as the basis for gifts for the adults in my family on Easter Sunday.

This afternoon Toby & I wandered the Easter & confectionery aisles of our local supermarket looking for sweet, Eastery treats before returning home to bake and ice some bunny rabbit and egg biscuits.

To make the presents I first removed the labels from the 3 boxes and added pretty stickers to the tops, mainly because whilst the pink box label removed perfectly, the blue and green ones refused to let go so I had to cover up stubborn streaks of sticker residue (any excuse to use my Cath Kidston stickers, though, is not to be sniffed at ;).

I filled the egg compartments full of sugar crusted chocolate eggs, almond nougat, chocolate violet creams, jelly rabbits, gorgeous chocolate flowers, homemade biscuits, jelly eggs and marshmallows.

I then tied them closed with thick, soft velvet ribbon.

We have a lot of eggs left (lemon meringue pie & lots of omelettes next week) but I love them. The children have got giant chocolate rabbits but I wanted something a bit more grownup for the others.

They are, however, almost too pretty to give away!
